The Yehudi Menuhin School was created and brought to life by the vision and determination of an extraordinary musician and world citizen, Yehudi Menuhin. Within a few years the School had become known throughout the world and was beginning to set a new standard for the education and training of young musicians.

To mark its first 50 years, Nicolas Chisholm has charted its development from the germ of an idea sparked by a visit to a school in Russia to the truly international school it has become.

The challenges it has faced and the struggle to survive along the way make fascinating reading. Not since Menuhin’s House of Music, Eric Fenby’s short description of its first four years, has there been any study of the School’s extraordinary progress.

With more than 100 colour and monochrome illustrations and 214 pages, the book has been produced to a high standard. Published for The Yehudi Menuhin School by Phillimore, this is a book for anyone interested in music education and the School.

Menuhin's Vision was published in December 2013 as the School celebrated its 50th anniversary.
